Refund & Cancellation Policy
How we take payments, when we refund them, and what happens when you cancel or change plans.
Last updated: September 14, 2026
1. Scope
This policy applies to every paid TechTalk plan: Starter (R99/month), Pro (R199/month), Honours (R399/month), Lifetime (R4,999 once-off) and our organisation plans. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
2. How payments are handled
- All prices are shown in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT where applicable.
- Payments are processed by our payment provider. TechTalk never sees or stores your full card number.
- Monthly plans bill automatically on the same day each month until you cancel. The Lifetime plan is a single charge with no renewal.
- A tax invoice is issued for every successful charge and is available from your Membership page.
- If a renewal fails, we retry the payment. Access continues during the retry window and is paused if the payment ultimately fails.
3. Cooling-off period
Because TechTalk is supplied electronically and access begins immediately, section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 allows us to limit the automatic cooling-off right once you have started using the Service. As a matter of policy we still offer the following:
- First 14 days, monthly plans: a full refund of your first payment if you have completed fewer than three lessons and no quiz attempts.
- First 14 days, Lifetime plan: a full refund on the same conditions.
- Duplicate or accidental charges: refunded in full, whenever they are reported.
- Extended outages: where the Service is unavailable for a prolonged period, we issue a pro-rata credit or refund for the affected time.
4. When we do not refund
- Renewal payments after the first 14 days of a billing cycle you have used.
- Accounts suspended or terminated for breaching the acceptable-use rules in our Terms.
- Partly used months when you cancel mid-cycle, access simply runs to the end of that cycle.
- Change of mind after substantially completing a learning path.
5. Cancelling a plan
You can cancel at any time from Dashboard → Membership. Cancellation stops the next renewal; it does not end your current billing period. You keep full access until the period end date shown on your Membership page, after which the account reverts to the free tier. Your profile, projects and progress are kept, nothing is deleted when you downgrade.
6. Upgrades and downgrades
Upgrades take effect immediately and are pro-rated for the remainder of the current period. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal date, so you keep the higher tier until then.
7. Chargebacks
Please contact us before raising a chargeback with your bank, we can usually resolve the issue faster. Accounts with an open chargeback may be suspended until the dispute is settled.
8. How to request a refund
Email billing@techtalk.fun from the address on your account with your name, the plan and the date of the charge. We acknowledge requests within 2 business days and, where approved, refund to the original payment method within 10 business days. Your bank may take a few days longer to show the money.
9. Your consumer rights
Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or other applicable South African law.
10. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and any dispute will be heard in the courts sitting in the North West province, South Africa, unless consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
